Creating a Positive Sustainable Forest Future

At Domtar Paper, our investment in sustainability has deep roots. As part of our sustainability journey, we have partnered with the world’s most recognized environmental groups and have worked to have a positive social impact in the communities in which we operate.  Industry partners such as HP are taking action to create a forest positive future for printing and have partnered with the World Wildlife Fund to launch the HP Sustainable Forests Collaborative.

The goal of the Collaborative is to restore, protect and conserve 200,000 acres of forest, an area equal to the size of New York City. Over five years, HP is contributing $11 million for WWF to restore part of Brazil’s threatened Atlantic Forest and increase sustainable management of state-owned farms and forest plantations in China.

Domtar Paper has joined the Collaborative to help preserve and improve forest ecosystems for future generations.  “Joining the HP Sustainable Forests Collaborative was a natural partnership and extension of our long-standing history of sustainability work as well as many years of working closely with HP on initiatives to move digital printing forward. The advocacy of print on paper has been a key component of our industry engagement for many years and we know its value and how it contributes to a more sustainable future,” states Director of Marketing, Vanécia Carr.

VP of Sustainability, Paige Goff echo’s Carr’s statement. “HP, World Wildlife Fund and other industry leaders envision a forest positive future that protects the world’s forests for future generations. Uniting with others in our industry to amplify our sustainability efforts only helps our local and global communities and that is one of the pillars of our work.”

At Domtar, our investment in sustainability is rooted in responsibility, efficiency and engagement. To learn more about how we are working together to build a better future, download our 2019 Sustainability Report.
