Dear Library,
Happy Valentine’s Day.
Forgive this pouring of my heart. I have a small confession—I know we’re lifelong friends, but I am in love with you.
Even as a child, the moment I laid my eyes on you, you had me. I didn’t understand the Dewey Decimal System, nor did I know what “non-fiction met,” but what I did know is that I could wander your shelves for the rest of my life and be happy. I must admit, I don’t have a last-minute gift, love letter or card for you, but I can say I’ve never been charged a late fee, ripped a page or lost a title.
Library, we’re inseparable. For as long as I can remember, we’ve been side by side—I guess you could say that you’re my childhood sweetheart. From “The Cat in the Hat” all those years ago to those novels that I grabbed last week, I’ve been in your life and you’ve been in mine. I’ve been to Disney, Paris, Buffalo Wild Wings and Grandma’s house but, Library, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.
My feelings for you only intensified when I saw how good you were with kids. An entire section devoted to young readers? Be still, my heart. I’ve never met someone so organized, or so quiet but full of knowledge. Even your friends, the librarians, are incredible people. They’re helpful, kind and make great recommendations. In fact, your librarians are so helpful, they’ve inspired us to make recommendations of our own!
I know that to you I’m might just be another reader with a card, but I’m your biggest fan.
Please, say you’ll be mine this Valentine’s.
All my love,
Your Bookworm
