Our Mission

At Domtar, we believe in leaving the world a better place than we found it. Our Public Affairs team monitors and engages in public policy discussions that have the potential to impact the safety, success and sustainability of our workers, our communities, our business and our industry. By educating and engaging with all levels of government – federal, state and local – we can help ensure the regulatory and political climate protects and advances the interests, competitiveness and reputation of our industry and our business while protecting our natural resources and the communities where we live, work and play.
We also work with the communities we operate in to build open, respectful relationships so we can help each other achieve our goals. We look forward to working with you and encourage you to contact the representative who serves your region.

Our Political Engagement

We are actively engaged in the conversation around public policy issues that can affect our business and our industry. This includes participating in organizations that represent our industry’s interests. Also, we encourage our employees to be active in civic and community activities, including participation in the democratic process.
All political, lobbying and civic activity by the company and its employees must comply with applicable law, and we do not make contributions to political parties, political committees or candidates using company resources (including monetary and in-kind services), even where permitted by law.
In the United States, we maintain a political action committee (PAC), a program sanctioned by the Federal Election Commission (FEC). Contributions to political campaigns made by the PAC are solely and entirely funded through voluntary contributions from eligible Domtar and affiliated entities’ employees. No corporate funds can be used for this purpose, other than to cover administrative expenses. The PAC complies with all applicable laws concerning political contributions, including laws requiring public disclosure of such contributions.

Our Team

The Domtar Public Affairs team represents our North American interests to the public and to assorted government agencies, regulating bodies and industry organizations. We also build relationships at the local level in the communities we operate in.
